No Bum Dynasty League DRAFT Recap Episode 3

And now for Episode 3, picks 5.18 (98) and 6.3 (103). We were now in a position to get Dame the rim production or rim protection he needed. But the market continued to raise the price for the position, numb to the phrase “positionless basketball,” gobbling up all of the traditional centers.

A guy in our crosshairs was Wendell Carter Jr, but he was taken 7 picks before 5.18. Alternatively, we were looking at Fultz to run center, sniped at 5-14, and our last resort was Miles Bridges taken at 5-16. So, we pushed off doing right by Dame and got younger, grabbing Jeremy Sochan and Cameron Johnson, our top two targets.

Our scouting team liked getting Sochan, a teammate to Vassell, and adding some Brooklyn Grit in Cam. Sochan was rated really high on my board because of his unique skill set of contributing across the board and flashes of greatness shown throughout his rookie season. The downside is none as he comes with irrational confidence and is an irritator; these archetypes have long careers in the NBA.

Cameron Johnson is getting the bag on a team that lacks offensive firepower and is a twin of star Brooklyn Bridges. “Sky is the limit and you know that you can, have what you want, be what you want” – 1C upside? Perhaps.

Here’s what the coaching staff sees as the strengths and weaknesses so far:

  • Elite: Points, 3s, Assists, FT%
  • Above Average: Steals
  • Neutral: Turnovers
  • Below Average: Blocks and rebounds
  • Life-support: FG%

Dame remains unconvinced with the direction of the team…
