Back at it for Episode 4 which features Picks 7.18 (138) and 8.3 (143). To recap Subzero now features a roster that has:
- Jayson Tatum (1.3)
- Damian Lillard (2.18)
- Tyrese Maxey (3.18)
- Devin Vassell (4:3)
We delayed long enough and focused on getting Dame win-now pieces. We started the tampering process with Clint Capela, Ben Simmons, Jonas Valančiūnas, and Brook Lopez.

All were selected at 7-11, 7-17, 7-10, and 7-12, respectively. And the one that stung the most was Ben Simmons, selected one pick before our selection at 7.18 – an opportunity to rehab a former All-NBA player, sign me up.

So, the next available bigs on our board were Nurkić (no thank you, Dame would demand a trade before the pick is even made), and Bobby Portis is a nice pick but probably won’t gel well. Zach Collins’ role is a bit undefined, especially now with the Spurs switching their focus into building a winning team. So this story is getting old, Dame, we’re sorry. We promise you will find better talent, we are on the phones night and day (we were not). So we went in the direction any team would go that has Tatum/Dame, picking now at the 7th/8th round cutoff-ish position

We chose the two rawest prospects who averaged less than 6 points a game in their previous stints in the NBA: Dereck Lively and Bilal Coulibaly. Lively is our first center selected and promises to be a defensive-minded glass eater who can space the floor – a desperate need for the Mavs. Bilal is Wemby’s former teammate who can’t drive or dribble left, but man, can he play some defense.

So, Dame, we got defenders, but maybe inexperienced fast learners – trust us, everything will be okay. Bilal was also picked because, well, why not add a third player that wears the number 0? Also, a former teammate of Wemby, who may want a change of scenery in a few years if the rebuild collapses.
We are now locked and loaded with our big 3: Tatum/Lillard/Coulibaly. What else could go wrong?
