The Gotham Great Danes (GGD) have acquired LeBron James, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer in total points in the regular season. GGD traded their 2024 1st-round pick to the Miami Moneyman in exchange for the King!
First of all, let’s all take a deep breath and figure out what just happened here. What is possibly going on in the GGD front office? They have been rumored to be involved as a seller, then a buyer, then a seller, and now a BUYER! Why did GGD make this trade? I’ve got many reasons:
- Chris Paul is aging and in a reduced role on the warriors and now on a negative contract. LBJ is cheaper and can replace his assist production, while giving more in points, rebounds, fg% and blocks
- LBJ is a 2022-23 Association champion. GGD has struggled to be victorious in his last 3 consecutive finals appearances. Embiid needs true veteran leadership to get over the hump
- GGD is signaling to top free-agents the rumors are not true, and he is willing to spend on top talent
- GGD is trying to create a domino effect where big star players are held drying up the free agency market
- GGD got bored, seeing 6 deals happen, not being part of one, is in fantasy life, real life, borderline depressing, FOMO sets in quickly
- GGD is projected to be the #1 team by a mile
- GGD wants to do right by his fan base
- GGD is attempting to repeat the formula that brought him his first and second association championship. Gotham Culture !
- GGD wants to sip tea and give contending teams sleepless nights and make irrational moves.
The ultimate reason GGD acquired the king is for the last dance and prove to the world LBJ is the goat!

And for Moneymen, it’s a great move considering LBJ was acquired for free after the Brooklyn Phoenix put him on the curb like it was trash pickup day! He gets a late 2024 pick and an opportunity to get a young rookie next year or package that pick into a bigger deal! There is no secret that it’s been a while since I’ve liked a Moneyman deal, so I’ll give props when props are due. They are certainly due here!
