War Room Full History
It started the way many legendary leagues do: with a group of die-hard basketball fanatics, most of us studying together at university in science and engineering disciplines, all convinced we were the smartest person in the room. Everyone thought they were the mathematician, the statistician, the hoops expert, or the fantasy basketball savant.
So we decided to settle it the only way that mattered: create a league of record.
Founded in 2011, The War Room began as a 14-team Yahoo Fantasy Basketball league using the standard 9-category head-to-head format. What started as a competitive league among friends quickly became one of the foundational leagues in the Killanomics fantasy universe.
By Season 3 in 2013, the league evolved from a 6-team playoff format to an 8-team playoff format, raising the stakes and giving more teams a shot at postseason glory. Then in 2022, The War Room expanded again, growing from 14 teams to 16 teams, creating an even deeper, tougher, and more competitive battlefield.
Since then, the rest has been history.
The War Room remains a proving ground for fantasy basketball strategy, rivalry, bragging rights, and long-term legacy. It is where reputations were built, championship resumes were forged, and every manager learned that in this league, opinions are cheap — but banners last forever.
