Watch The Throne (WTT) Basketball Fantasy League Constitution Summary

League Structure:

  • Teams and Format: 12-team Head-to-Head (H2H) Weekly Category league with daily lineup changes.
  • Seasons: 21-week regular season followed by a 3-week postseason with 8 teams.
  • Platform: Yahoo Fantasy Basketball.

Roster and Lineup:

  • Roster Size: 15 players (7 positional spots, 3 utility spots, 5 bench spots, 2 IL spots).
  • Minimum Active Players: 12 active players required, failure results in salary cap penalties.
  • Scoring: Standard Yahoo H2H with 9 categories (FG%, FT%, 3PT, AST, REB, PTS, STL, BLK, TO).

Drafts and Player Acquisition:

  • Initial Setup Draft: Auction draft with a $200 budget, players signed to contracts of 1-5 years.
  • Annual Rookie Draft: 2 rounds, with picks determined by a lottery and playoff results. Rookie contracts start at $12m for the 1st pick and decrease by $1m for each subsequent pick.
  • Free Agent Draft: Conducted annually with an auction format. Teams use remaining salary cap space to bid on players.

Salary Cap:

  • Soft Cap: $200 million, increases 5% annually.
  • Hard Cap: $260 million, cannot be exceeded. Penalties apply if the soft cap is exceeded.
  • Contracts: Players’ salaries increase by 10% or 1% of the soft cap annually. Various contract types include Unrestricted Free Agents (UFA) and Restricted Free Agents (RFA).

Waivers and Injuries:

  • Waivers: Teams can pick up to 2 free agents per week using a FAAB system.
  • Injuries: Players can be placed on IR, with exceptions for season-long injuries allowing salary exemptions.

Trading:

  • Review Process: All trades are subject to review by the commissioners and must not exceed the hard cap.
  • Future Picks: 1st round picks can be traded up to 3 years in the future.

Playoffs:

  • Seeding: Determined by regular season record, with division winners getting top 3 spots.
  • Bracket: Follow Yahoo’s default bracket setup.

Rule Changes:

  • Submission: Potential changes submitted during the off-season, with possible multi-year warnings for major changes.

Important Dates/Schedule:

  • Preseason: Includes salary cap adjustments, rookie draft, FA draft, and amnesty submissions.
  • Regular Season: Trade deadline set and postseason follows.
  • Postseason: Concludes with season end and draft seeding set for the next year.

G League:

  • Developmental League: For rookies and sophomores, each team may hold up to 2 players.
  • Call-ups: Limited to 3 per player and team per season, with rules on reactivation and trading.
